Cognitive "Brain" Training & Reading Software Overview
Fast ForWord is a series of 10 programs, with 50+ games, in two over-lapping phases, typically completed in 4-8 months:
- Cognitive Training Software. Exercises that treat the underlying cognitive weaknesses that impede reading and learning progress.
- Reading 1-5 Series. Develops reading speed and comprehension skills, using a series of age appropriate games that also fill in spelling, vocabulary and other skill gaps.
Description of Programs
Fast ForWord Language v2
Fast ForWord Language v2 and the teenage/adult version, Fast ForWord Literacy, are the most important Fast ForWord programs -- they are completely sound and spoken language based, setting the foundation for the reading programs that follow. Targeted cognitive skills include processing speed, attention stamina, working memory and sequencing.
Fast ForWord Language to Reading
Fast ForWord Language to Reading v2 adds syllables in text form to the mix, and continues to target fundamental reading and learning skills in an effort to correct any weaknesses that will impede reading success. It aims to take essential learning skills as far as they will go.
Fast ForWord's Literacy and Literacy Advanced
These two cognitive skill programs are high school/adult versions of Fast ForWord Language and Language to Reading. They have a cool, space age feel to them, to keep middle and high schoolers and adults engaged.
The goals of Literacy and Literacy Advanced are to enhance language processing so that a student can automate decoding, to make an exhausting reading style more efficient, freeing up brain capacity for much stronger reading comprehension.

Series Products
The Fast ForWord® READING Series: Critical Tools for Struggling Students
Builds pre-reading skills, with a focus on letter recognition and naming, phonological awareness, and letter-sound associations.
Builds critical early reading skills, with an emphasis on phonemic awareness, early decoding skills, vocabulary knowledge and skills, and motivation for reading.
Consolidates early reading skills, with a focus on applying phonics and decoding strategies, improving word recognition, and understanding the rules for reading comprehension.
Builds on the Fast ForWord Reading Level 2 product by concentrating on reading knowledge and fluency, with a focus on phonology and spelling, morphological properties and complexity, syntactic complexity, vocabulary and comprehension.
Builds reading skills in school by applying knowledge of word origins, word forms, sentence structures, and punctuation rules to improve comprehension.
Appropriate for students in upper elementary, middle and high school. It concentrates on enhancing advanced reading comprehension skills and expanding vocabulary skills
